The Zambia Revenue Authority has clocked 25 years, marking its Silver Jubilee. The main celebrations were held on 5th April, 2019 at Mulungushi International Conference Centre and were graced by the Minister of Finance, Honourable Margaret Mwanakatwe, MP.
Stakeholders who included former Finance Ministers and former ZRA Commissioner Generals, Government Ministries and departments, tax payers and non governmental organisations were part of the memorable event.
Awards were also presented to individuals for long service and out-standing contributions made to the revenue authority.
ZRA also launched its Corporate Strategic Plan (2019-2021).
Guest of Honours, Margaret Mwanakatwe thanked Zambians for their contributions through taxes paid leading to the government being able to successfully implement different reforms that have resulted in meaning socio-economic investments.
Mrs Mwanakatwe said ZRA has continued to be a lead-ing advocate of reform mod-ernisation in the country through its automation of tax administrations systems including the legislative and regulatory reforms that have not only improved public service delivery but improved Zambia’s global ranking in the ease of doing business.
She thanked ZRA for sup-porting Government’s agen-da of ensuring that it im-proves the live of every Zam-bian.
And ZRA Commissioner General Kingsley Chanda said ZRA’s focus is to continue devising efficient revenue collection strategies within the confines of the enabling tax laws.
Mr. Chanda noted that over the last 25 years, ZRA has demonstrated its capacity to serve as a key pillar in sup-porting Zambia’s development agenda through effective and efficient revenue mobilization
