ZRA GIVES BACK TO MAGWERO

The Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) has donated 50 bags of wheat flour to Magwero School of the Deaf and Blind in Chipata, Eastern Province.

The 50 by 10kg bags of wheat flour are worth K10,000.

The donated flour is among the smuggled goods seized by the ZRA Enforcement and Compliance Unit in Chipata.

Speaking when he made the donation to Magwero School of the Blind and Deaf on behalf of the ZRA Commissioner General, ZRA Senior Collector, Victor Kasoma said the donation is meant to alleviate some of the daily challenges the school was facing.

Mr. Kasoma said as enshrined in the Corporate Social Responsibility policy of the Authority, it is only imperative that ZRA continues to give back to needy members of society because tax collection is dependent on the ability of society to contribute to the treasury.

He said society can only do so if people are given an opportunity to overcome challenges.

And Magwero School of the Deaf and Blind Headteacher Moses Chitule expressed gratitude for the various donations ZRA has made to the school in the past. Mr. Chitule said the school has less privileged pupils and such gestures give them enough hope to face life’s challenges.
